European assignment in Georgia has been extended
Foreign ministers of the EU decided a one-year extension of the observation assignment aiming to maintain the ceasefire agreements in Georgia, which started in October 2008 in the following of the war regarding the separatist regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia between Tbilisi and Moscow. Russia does not recognize the mandate of the UN and OSCE assignments in Georgia, which would also like that Turkey and the United States take part in the assignments. Full Le Monde's report here.
