The city of Cluj is situated on the Somes River, at the feet of the Apuseni Mountains (part of the Carpathians). Besides from being a very old city, it is also very crowded nowadays; but in the same time it is a green city: the Central Park, of about 20 ha., with large alleys full of chestnuts and a lake that invites you to a beautiful boating experience represents a green oasis in the middle of the town. The sports park that belongs to the University (25 ha.), offers 26 tennis, 3 football and 1 rugby courts, 4 sport halls and 2 swimming pools, all in an environment similar to that of a botanical garden. Unfortunately, what Cluj lacks is a good bicycle infrastructure. However, an escape from the city in the Apuseni Mountains is always an option. Given their proximity, an afternoon is enough for such an entertaining experience.
