European Alternatives is a civil society organisation dedicated to promoting intellectual engagement with the idea and future of Europe. It publishes a regular journal, EUROPA, and organises several events including the yearly London Festival of Europe.

European Alternatives strongly believes in, and actively advocates, the necessity of a new trans-national politics. Our journal, called "a European journal of transnational thought", aims to draw out the implications of such a stance.

Political alternatives can be glimpsed through the cracked glass of Europe. It is our belief that the contemporary project of European unification represent potential fertile soil for political innovation and vehement democratic participation. But Europe must be understood in its multifaceted political, cultural, and philosophical reality, and the European project cannot rest content with economic unification.

European Alternatives calls for a fierce intellectual engagement with the future idea and possibility of Europe.
It both advocates that engagement, and, through its many activities, attempts to enact it.
